Kayla and Jax is a speculative series by Pittsburgh filmmaker Joey Kelly. Originally conceived as a horror manuscript, the idea was shelved for several years before being partially revived in the form of a children’s animated series. The above video is a snippet of what the show would be like as well as an example of the visual style.
Comprised of stand-alone stories (much like popular cartoons of the mid 1990’s), the series follows a young girl named Kayla and her adopted brother Jax, who just happens to be a pumpkin monster, and often drags his little sister into mischievous situations in their fictional town of Autumn Falls.
In 2019, a short “Kayla and Jax: Lemonade” premiered at the Great Lakes International Film Festival.
